Behavior of Smoke

A fire loss is very complex because of the unique behavior of smoke.  It is important to have trained technicians at the loss location. Healthy Home Inc. employees knows about smoke. Smoke is highly unusual, typically hot smoke migrates to cooler areas and upper levels of a structure. Smoke flows through plumbing systems, using holes around pipes to go from floor to floor. The type of smoke will greatly affect the restoration process.

Types of Smoke

The first step at a fire scene is to calm the fears of those that were affected by this event. Next, Healthy Home Inc. professionals tests the smoke to see which of the following types of fire took place; a wet, dry, or protein.  With a wet smoke fire there is low heat, smoldering, pungent odor, sticky, smeary. The fire forms smoke webs are more difficult to clean. A dry smoke fire burns fast at high temperatures.  Protein fires are virtually invisible, they will discolor paints and varnishes.  These fires typically put off an extremely pungent odor.  After the type of smoke is known, pretesting on the property can be performed to determine what can be restored versus what has to be replaced. The most effective cleaning method will be determined by the Healthy Home Inc. professionals. Our employee will determine what condition to the property was in before the damage occurred and the full extent of the loss. Most importantly our employees will eliminate needless replacements.
